New permit required for barracas in the beaches of Balneário. Starting in 2026
Balneário Camboriú introduces a new digital permit system for beach barracas, requiring all operators to register and comply before the 2026 summer season.
— Aki Team
Starting in 2026, all beach barraca operators in Balneário Camboriú will be required to obtain a new digital permit from the city's municipal authority. The permit system is designed to formalize the informal economy along the city's famous beaches and improve safety and hygiene standards.
What's Changing
The city is replacing the old paper-based permit system with a fully digital process. Operators must register online, submit proof of food safety training, and pass a basic inspection before receiving their permit QR code.
Timeline
January 2026: Registration portal opens
March 2026: Inspections begin
June 2026: Full enforcement — unregistered barracas face closure
What This Means for Vendors
While the new requirements add administrative burden, they also bring legitimacy and protection. Permitted vendors will be listed on the city's official tourism portal and gain access to microfinance programs. Aki is working with local authorities to help vendors navigate the process digitally.
