Aki Arrives in Balneário Camboriú, SC
Brazil's most visited beach city now has Aki. Here's how we launched in Balneário Camboriú and what makes this corridor unique.
— Aki Team
Balneário Camboriú is one of Brazil's most visited beach destinations — a city where skyscrapers meet the Atlantic, and where millions of tourists flow through every summer season. Launching here was a milestone for Aki.
Why Balneário
With over 2 million tourists visiting each summer and a dense concentration of beach vendors along the famous Praia Central and Praia Laranjeiras, Balneário Camboriú represented an enormous opportunity. But it also came with challenges: high seasonal demand, a mix of established barracas and informal vendors, and a city government actively updating vendor regulations for 2026.
The Launch
We partnered with a local vendor association to co-host three onboarding workshops before the summer season. Over 80 vendors attended across the three sessions. By the time the high season started in December, we had 95 active vendor profiles live in the corridor.
The Summer Season
During peak season (December–February), Aki-connected vendors in Balneário processed an average of 600 orders per week. Tourist customers accounted for 68% of orders — many of them downloading the app specifically because a hotel staff member or hostel recommended it.
Staying Active Year-Round
Unlike fully seasonal destinations, Balneário has a strong local community that keeps beaches active year-round. Our vendor community here is using the slower months to build their digital presence and lock in loyal customer bases ahead of next summer.
